Blogger Seven Bellfifth writes: “Ok, Art History. Whatever. It’s what I’m taking a mental break from studying now. My question is: Who the hell cares? Don’t get me wrong–I like art a lot, and I like knowing about art. I just hate being made to memorize bunches of images and their titles and artists and dates and why they’re significant. It seems so forced. I guess this is what seperates the artists from the art historians. It doesn’t jive well with the art side of my brain or the science side–memorizing just for memory’s sake and not for a greater purpose or a real understanding. Also because it’s Italian Renaissance art, which is beautiful, but starts to all look the same to me after an hour or two.”
