For art history professors returning to the classroom this fall, the signs are good. In a quick survey of student blogs, we noted the following recent comments:

“My art history professor is absolutely amazing. I feel so good about this being my major, especially if I can have more classes with him later on. I’m not even interested in the period we’re studying, but I can never wait to get to his lectures. He’s is fascinating, and he loves what he does. And he knows what he’s talking about … He is unbelievable. I can’t wait for his office hours so I can go meet him. Just to be in the same room as him is incredible.”

“ART HISTORY PROFESSOR … she’s soooo awesome!! there’s not much one-on-one with her because she teaches a forum class, but she has a way of captivating EVERYONE through her personality and spunk. she’s so goofy and not afraid to act that way, and the emotion she puts into her lectures are infectious. :) it’s hard to NOT pay attention in her class (unless you’re sitting by someone who won’t shut the fuck up)!”

“So I definitely have a major girl-crush on my art history professor. No, I don’t want to hop into bed with her (at least not until after I’ve had a few), but I really hope that one day I am as badass as she is. Seriously though, I was walking to one of my classes and happened to pass her, and she waved at me. All I could think was, “OMG, she knows who I am!???”"

“the performing arts class has two bunraku field trips! But the art history professor was so awesome!”

“[my art history professor] is already OBVIOUSLY awesome. His reputation as being, well, awesome, is therefore correct.”
