“Six of the world’s pre-eminent Jackson Pollock scholars will converge at Williams College [Museum of Art] on May 13 to discuss the artist’s work in a rare symposium, the museum’s director said Wednesday. The gathering will be highly unusual, particularly in light of the recent controversy over 32 previously unknown Pollock works discovered in 2003 on Long Island, N.Y., said Williams College Museum of Art Director Lisa Corrin. The experts include Ellen G. Landau, professor at Case Western Reserve University and the art historian who asserts that the newly discovered paintings are indeed Pollock’s … Helen Harrison, director of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center … S. Lane Faison, former director of the Williams College Museum of Art; art critic Adam Gopnik from the New Yorker magazine; Pepe Karmel, associate professor in the department of fine arts at New York University, and Tom Branchick, director of the Williamstown Art Conservation Center.”
