A Dissertation on Invective

About Me

Jonathan Lackman is a PhD student at NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts. His dissertation (in progress) is “Invective in French Art Criticism: 1840-1881.” He has written for Slate, Harper’s, and The New Yorker.

Permanent Disclaimer: I aspire to someday publish findings from my dissertation in scholarly form. This blog, however, is something else. It’s a rough draft, a diary of sorts, and I reserve the right to try out ideas that I don’t yet truly believe in or have the supporting evidence for. I may bobble facts. Footnoting may come and go.
